My ‘Karen’ neighbour built a fence on our property…she ignored deadline to remove it so we got our own back

A COUPLE has told of how they got payback after their “Karen” neighbour allegedly built a fence on their property.

The UK-based pair say they even gave next door a deadline on when the structure had to be gone – but they say the neighbour never did anything about it.

So the couple ended up building a taller, nicer fence to block out neighbour’s one – which they said was “dilapidated and hazardous”.

Sharing their battle to TikTok, the family said: “Problem – neighbour’s fence on our land.

“We gave ‘Karen’ 24 days written notice to remove her fence from our land.

“‘Karen’ did nothing, (so) the hubby took back our land and built a new two-metre fence.

“Looks good. Total cost for materials £400.

“Neighbour disputes fall under civil matters.”

She also wrote: “Dear Karen neighbour, please remove your dilapidated and hazardous fence.”

It’s not unusual for people to run into issues with their neighbours.

A mum was recently left shocked after what she dubbed her “ultimate Karen” neighbours supposedly pretended to be her to cut down her tree.

Backyard fire stemmed from discarded ashes, firefighters say

A fire on Madison’s Near West side Wednesday afternoon was caused by discarded ashes from an outdoor fire the night before, according to Madison firefighters.

Firefighters were dispatched to a home in the 1400 block of Chandler Street just after 4 p.m., where they found a backyard fence smoldering and charred. Neighbors had used a garden hose to cool the burning fence and firefighters fully extinguished the fire, soaking a nearby tree, vegetation and wood piles to prevent a rekindle, spokesperson Cynthia Schuster said in a statement.

A resident of the home told firefighters they had a small fire outside the night before and let the ashes sit overnight and for most of the day before dumping them in the backyard. Not fully cooled, the ashes lit some leaves on fire, which spread to the fence and a nearby woodpile.

According to Schuster, ashes from fireplaces and fire pits, and coals from grills can take up to 72 hours to completely cool. These materials should be disposed of in a metal container with a lid, stored at least 15 feet away from combustible items or structures.

Pinellas County nonprofit raises money to fix fence after hit-and-run

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A crucial fence for the Homeless Empowerment Program was left with thousands of dollars in damage after a driver hit it and took off.

“We’ve put a lot of effort into the garden to make it what it is,” said Maissie Hughes, garden coordinator for the Homeless Empowerment Program. “I think it is really important to be connected to nature and to spend time outside,”

Hughes spends every day in the organization’s garden, getting fruits and vegetables ready to be served to those who are homeless or food insecure.

“We serve just over 400 people a day,” said Ashley Lowery, CEO of the organization.

An important part of the garden is the fence surrounding it.

“In prior years, we’ve had instances of theft and vandalism on the property, specifically around the garden, which is why the fence was installed,” said Lowery.

The fence was damaged over the weekend when the driver hit it and left no information behind.

“I was just like, ‘Whoa.’ It was just so unexpected. I was probably the first person who saw it,” said Hughes.

Lowery said it’s going to cost roughly $5,000 to fix.

“We are going to have to look at the garden operations and see what we can possibly move around to cover that expense,” said Lowery.

Volunteers and clients with The Homeless Empowerment Program said not only is their garden used to feed people who struggle to find food, but it’s also used as a form of therapy.

“Just getting out and getting your hands dirty. It gives you time to reflect and stuff, and it’s something to do with nature. It all works together for the good,” said Jim Rains, a veteran and client with the organization.

‘Our neighbour built fence through our garden – we took matters into our own hands’ | World | News

A frustrated homeowner took matters into his own hands after his nightmare neighbour built a fence through their garden.

The row began when the structure was suddenly built infringing on their land.

The homeowners claim they then asked their neighbour to rectify it, but they refused.

Furious at the neighbour’s audacity, they took revenge by removing it plank by plank.

The moment was captured on video and posted onto the TikTok account @unbewreathable, with the caption: “My neighbors fence is on our property…we’ve asked them to partner with us to correct it…they refused…so here we are!”

The video, believed to have been filmed in the US, has since wracked up 664,000 likes and more than 11,000 comments.

However, it received a mixed response from viewers.

Some appeared to support the homeowner’s brash actions, with one person saying: “Good job people should respect your boundaries. Don’t put fence on someone else land and expect them to agree whether it is 3ft or 1ft don’t matter.”

Another added: “Normalize not allowing your neighbors to run over you for easing tension.if their fence stays there, they gain that property.”

Meanwhile a third said: “I love the pettiness,” followed by two laughing face emojis.

However, others disagreed.

“Why can’t people learn to get along,” one said.

Another fumed: “Why bother, now theres tension and no fence. Congrats.”

One exasperated viewer said: “Why is there so much hostility between neighbours? How hard is it to communicate and be a decent person.”

Parent vents on MumsNet AIBU forum about nosy neighbour | UK | News

A mum took to social media to ask for advice on nosy neighbours who peer over her garden fence.

She posted in MumsNets’s AIBU forum, a section where parents can vent about issues and ask “Am I Being Unreasonable?”.

The anonymous poster said of her situation: “So we live in a small cul-de-sac and have a good neighbourhood situation.

“But one of the families is so nosy. They’ve said they like where their house is so they can see everything going on, and they barely try to hide their peeking.

“Our gardens are next to each other, The fence is high but if they go right up to it or to the back of their garden then can ‘sneak’ a look into ours.”

Posted a few months ago, the story was a big hit on the social media forum for parents, getting 60 replies.

“Usually we just laugh or shake our heads at their nosiness but I’m starting to think do we need a word? We don’t have anything to hide but it’s not on us it! And how to say it?” she added.

“Recently we had work done in the garden and one of the other houses saw Mr Nosy on tiptoes on his driveway trying to get a better look at what was going on.

“This evening we’ve had people round in the garden and I saw him right up at the fence peeking over. This isn’t unusual but what does he get out of knowing who we have round.

“What would you all do? It will be awkward to say anything and undoubtedly he’ll go in a huff with us too.”

MumsNet users supported the mum, giving suggestions on how she could raise her fence using a trellis or tall plants.

Others had more confrontational ideas,

Fencing that can withstand storms and irish winters with a 25 year guarantee

Contact Pat O Donnell at Rite Choice Fencing, (061)389777 or (087)6286388.

It’s now that time of year when we look forward to a nice warm home in the evenings, tucked away from the winter weather outside.

Before then though its time to give a walk around the perimeter of your garden to ensure all your fence panels and gates are ready to withstand the increasingly harsh Irish winter.

If you have wooden posts supporting your panels check at ground level for signs of rotting. For concrete H posts have a look along the uprights to make sure they are not cracking.

With wooden gates, the moist and wet weather will make them swell making them difficult to open. Should you have any of these problems then look at the alternative option of a steel fence or gate.

Colourfence is the best quality fence on the market and offer a 25 year guarantee against the paint peeling, blistering, rusting and corrosion, it will also withstand windgusts up to 120kpm, with 4 colours to choose from it is a “fit and forget“ product, will never need painting or treating, just a hose down a couple of times a year.

Dog owner ordered to tear down fence after complaint issued

A dog owner has been told by planning chiefs to take down a five-feet high fence and gate around her front garden after claiming she had been given verbal permission to go ahead with it.

Jenny Heywood of Alton Way in West Kilbride completed the construction of the fence last July to try and keep her two pet rescue dogs safe.

Planning officials refused it when permission was lodged in April despite no objections to the plans from neighbours.

The applicant submitted a notice of review to the North Ayrshire Council local review body and this was considered at their meeting on Wednesday.

Planning officer Anthony Hume said: “The fence was erected around September 2022 and encloses the garden which is used by the householder for their pet rescue dogs. Beyond the fence is a public footpath at the front of the houses.

“The proposal was refused because it was contrary to the local development plan. The fence detracts from the positive character and appearance of the area. It is not considered to be distinctive and is not in keeping with the appearance of the area.

“The appellant states they were given inaccurate information by a planning officer on a telephone call prior to purchasing the property and erected the fence.

“The property was purchased largely because of the garden and the fence which was needed to keep two pet rescue dogs safe on the basis it was understood permission was not required.

My neighbours stole my FENCE when they moved out – they waltzed into my yard, chilled on my furniture then swiped it

A PERSON has been left fuming after their neighbours stole a fence and spent an afternoon chilling in their backyard before they moved out.

Merel Kastelein from the Netherlands posted a photo on Reddit of her fence less garden after the naughty neighbours had left with the unusual parting gift.

My neighbour cut down my bushes to put up an ‘illegal’ privacy fence – I had to get creative with my response

A WOMAN has responded to her annoying neighbour cutting down her bushes in a very creative and clever way.

The bushes were hacked down so an “illegal” privacy fence could be put up, taking away Kathleen Heiles beloved greenery and her privacy.

Kathleen posted a video in May on her TikTok accusing her neighbour of replacing the bushes with a white privacy fence she called illegal.

The video is captioned with “My neighbour cut down my bushes to put up a high privacy fence but we aren’t allowed high fences.”

Showing clips of the bush before it was removed and then a new white fence put in, separating the two gardens.

Before the next caption says: “I had to get creative on a budget to bring back some privacy.”

The clever New Yorker put up some black garden trellis and made her own version of a bush with fake plastic leaves, throwing it over the top and keeping her privacy intact.

The new “bush” sits perfectly on the trellis that’s even taller than the new fence, surely making the neighbours fuming as their rude plan was foiled.

In New York they have laws over this type of neighbour argument.

One is a private nuisance law where you can’t build a fence higher than 10ft that blocks another person’s “enjoyment” of light or air.

Another includes chopping at a neighbours trees and bushes.

While you can trim them back if they’re on your property, you can’t trespass on your neighbour’s house or cause

My petty neighbour trims any leaf that TOUCHES his garden so I built a fence to shut him up… but he’s still not happy

A FUMING man who lives next to a petty neighbour built a privacy fence to keep him away – but it backfired.

This homeowner slammed the annoying guy next-door for trimming any leaf that even touches his garden.

To diffuse some of the tension, content creator @thecrabbyinnkeeper, revealed he built his own fence.

But the Bed & Breakfast host took to TikTok to dish out some neighbourhood drama.

In a video he said: “You would think that the neighbours would love this, but one guy ran over yesterday saying ‘I thought you were more reasonable than this’.

“More reasonable? This guy trims every leaf that goes over the property line, you’d think he would be jumping for joy.”

He added a jibe about the neighbour: “He’s nuts.”

Baffled TikTok users flooded the comment section with messages of confusion over why the inconsiderate neighbour was objecting.

“He enjoyed thinking he was irritating me by trimming any leaf that grew over his line, but I couldn’t care less, the fence takes the fun away,” replied the Inn Keeper.

Others were impressed at the homeowner’s craftsmanship and encouraged him to keep building the privacy fence.

This comes after a furious man waged war with his neighbours after their huge trees made life a misery – and he won his battle.

Meanwhile, a mum-of-four has slammed her nightmare neighbours for calling the cops on her kids for playing outside.

Meanwhile, another fuming local has slammed the people next-door for ramming into her fence – leaving it dented and sloping.

The scathing homeowner called out the inconsiderate people next door – who didn’t even inform her about
