Wensleydale Railway to run four more Fish and Chips dining trains

Wensleydale Railway in North Yorkshire has announced further dates for its new Saturday lunchtime Fish and Chips dining trains to Leyburn. Due to the success of its inaugural service on 22 April, the railway will run its ‘Wensleydale Fryer’ trains on 20 May, 22 July, 9 September and 21 October.

The railway is inviting passengers to experience a scenic journey through the Yorkshire Dales whilst enjoying locally-supplied Fish and Chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and unlimited tea or coffee served at their table.

The experience begins at Leeming Bar station when passengers will board the heritage diesel-hauled train. They will be seated in an open coach at their own table, set for one to four people, and for larger parties, two tables each side of the centre aisle. The railway’s volunteer staff will serve food and drink, and a bar service will be available.

On arrival at Leyburn, passengers will have time for a short comfort break and to stretch their legs before boarding the train for the return journey to Leeming Bar. They can also take a free guided tour of Leeming Bar’s lovingly-restored 1920s station building, which offers a fascinating window in to railway history and what life was like in the early part of the twentieth century.
