PRINCE Andrew is allegedly refusing to leave his Royal Lodge home during renovations – in case he “never gets back in”.

The royal, who no longer has official duties, shares the sprawling 30-room mansion in Windsor with just his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

King Charles is said to be keen for Andrew, who was given Royal Lodge on a long-term lease by the Queen Mother, to leave the £30million home as part of plans to scale down the monarchy.

But Andrew has forked up £7million of his own money for roof repairs this summer – and is allegedly refusing to move out for them.

A source told the Mail: “It’s become farcical. Andrew has roof repairs scheduled later this summer which will take several months to complete.

“He has been advised that staying in the house during those renovations could prove problematic. But he is reluctant to leave.”

The Sun revealed that Andrew cannot live in the property for much longer – as it has a serious damp problem and needs a new roof.

Andrew could make way for builders by temporarily moving in to Frogmore Cottage, Prince Harry and Meghan’s former home in Windsor.

King Charles is reportedly keen for Andrew to make a permanent move to Frogmore Cottage – with the duke allegedly suspecting that if he leaves Royal Lodge during repairs, he may never return.

But the Sussexes still reportedly hold the tenancy of Frogmore, which expires in July.

They have been given notice to quit the five-bed home, which the late Queen gave them.

Princess Eugenie, who gave birth to her second son last week, currently lives in Frogmore Cottage with her husband and children.

Royal Lodge’s next inhabitants could be Prince William and Princess Kate, who currently live in four-bed Adelaide Cottage.

But the Crown Estate could reportedly rent out the home as a holiday letting.

Buckingham Palace has been contacted for comment.

Another source denied the reports, insisting there was no need for Andrew to move out of the seven-bed home.
