A DIY whizz has revealed how she transformed a bargain charity shop find into the on-trend mirror of her dreams – and it literally cost her pennies to do.
Rather than forking out on a pricey designer piece for her wall, Jaharn decided to make her own using a thrifted mirror and bargain bronze-coloured window vinyl.
And fans are raving about the finished effect, with some vowing to give it a go.
Known online as @smorhome, she regularly shares DIY and interior design tips with her 20,100 followers.
In a new TikTok reel, she said: “After using bronze window film to make an upcycle glass coffee table recently, I was curious to see if I would get a similar result with a mirror.
“I thrifted a stunning oblong framed mirror at a charity shop for only $10 and got straight to work.
During the 31-second video, Jaharn is first seen removing the glass from the frame, before giving it a quick clean.
She then sets to work applying the bronze film, first laying it over the entire oval mirror, before flattening it down and removing any air bubbles with a squeegee.
The DIY pro then begins sanding the frame to remove the old varnish, before putting both pieces back together.
She continued: “I applied the window film onto the mirror, got rid of that reddish brown varnish and that’s it.
“I love that the raw timber contrasts beautifully with the bronze mirror, and once you’ve had a go, you quickly realise how easy window film is to apply and remove.
“And if you make a mistake, simply peel it off and reapply in a couple of minutes.”
Shoppers can pick up bronze window film from various online retailers, including Shein, with prices starting at just £6.
The only other thing you’ll need is a handheld sander, available at B&Q for just £20.
